Evidence freshness and agent verification

An agent can reason from information that was current and act after it changes. Freshness controls and execution tests address different parts of that problem.

Why can an AI decision become unreliable after it was made?

The evidence behind it can change. Inventory, permissions, account state or a document may be different by the time an agent performs an action. The problem is not necessarily that the original reasoning was wrong: the conditions supporting it may no longer hold.

What does FreshCtx check?

FreshCtx revalidates the declared evidence supporting a pending action at the protected execution boundary. Changed or unverifiable evidence can block that action under the configured policy. It does not establish that the reasoning is correct or that the action is authorised. The protection depends on the evidence and action boundary actually covered by the integration.

How does Revera differ from FreshCtx?

Revera investigates execution behaviour and replays a bounded test to assess a remediation. FreshCtx supplies a runtime freshness control. Revera’s conclusions remain limited to the tested action, execution path and observed evidence. Investigation, testing and runtime enforcement serve related but distinct purposes.

How should a team choose the evidence to revalidate?

Identify which facts would change whether the action should proceed. Record where those facts come from and how their current state can be checked. A generic refresh of every available data source may add work without protecting the decision that matters. Unverifiable inputs need an explicit policy, not an assumed pass.

What should a replay demonstrate?

Use a specific failing or uncertain execution path, a stated change and a bounded test. Compare the observed behaviour before and after that change. Keep the result tied to that evidence; do not turn one successful replay into a claim that all agent actions, integrations or operating conditions are safe.

An illustrative evaluation

An agent sees stock available and prepares fulfilment. Stock changes before execution. Revalidating the declared inventory evidence can stop the protected action; a controlled replay can then test that boundary. The result should show what was checked and what happened, including the blocked action. This example is not customer evidence or a general safety guarantee.
